RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook tablet was first appeared at the public during BlackBerry DEVCON 2010 event. The 7-inch capacitive touchscreen tablet is powered by 1GHz Dual Core processor, 1GB RAM, 3MP front facing camera, 5MP rear camera with 1080p HD video recording.

Other mentioned features are 1024×699 display resolution, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, HDMI video output and microUSB port. BlackBerry PlayBook has a dimension of 130x193x10mm, weighing 400g. You will find no support for 3G connectivity, however RIM promises to offer 3G and 4G model in near future.


Recognized media formats including H.264, MPEG, DivX, WMV videos and MP3, AAC, WMA audio files and playback for 1080p high definition video files. You would be able to use BlackBerry PlayBook along with your BlackBerry smartphone via secure Bluetooth connection, browsing email, calendar, tasks, BBM, documents and other content on their Blackberry phone with ease.


BlackBerry PlayBook also designed with advanced security features, out-of-the-box enterprise support as well as web browsing, true multitasking and multimedia.

Expect to see RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook tablet in the US market early next year. No info on pricing yet.
