Claims to be the world smallest one seat four-engineÂ all-electric aerobatic airplane, Cri-Cri is a joint collaboration between Green Cri-Cri Association, Aero Composites Saintonge and EADS Innovation Works.
Cri-Cri electric airplane has a lightweight composite structure, counter-rotating propellers and four brushless electric motors. Cri-Cri electric aircraft’s engine is producing zero CO2 emissions and less noise compared to thermal propulsion aircraft that using higher energy density lithium batteries.
The batteries on Cri-Cri electric aircraft will be able to maintain 30 minutes of autonomous cruise flight at 110km/h or an alternative 15 minutes of autonomous aerobatics at speeds reaching up to 250 km/h. On the test flight, the Cri-Cri electric aircraft could maintain 7 minutes airborne prior landing.
â€œThe Cri-Cri is a low-cost test bed for system integration of electrical technologies in support of projects like our hybrid propulsion concept for helicopters,â€ stated Jean Botti, EADSâ€™s Chief Technical Officer. â€œWe hope to get a lot of useful information out of this project.â€
