A Japanese scientist and researcher from Environmental Assesment Center in Okayama, Mitsuyuki Ikeda, has mark his awkward success in transforming sewage waste into edible artificial meat/hamburger!

According to scientific research and analysis, meatpacking industry causes 18 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, mostly due to the methane produced from animals’ wastes. Growing global population, longer human lifespan and greater daily meat consumption has made great impact on global warming, besides many facts have find the inhumane (in-animale) treatment on the poultry or those animals inside the slaughter houses. Other problems mentioned due to meat eating including huge water consumption for feeding the animals.

Above factors and reasons are enough for vegetarians to replace their meat intake with vegetable proteins and legumes. However, according to research conducted by Mitsuyuki Ikeda, sewage mud contains protein-rich material that could be used as alternative to proteins.

Sewage mud is said composed of 63% proteins, 25% carbohydrates, 3% lipids and 9% minerals, the scientist believes the artificial meat (termed by Ikeda as “sewage mud”) could one day become a sellable alternative to the expensive process needed to produce and distribute real meat. You can see the poop burgers being made in the video below.

Mitsuyuki Ikeda, a researcher from the Environmental Assessment Center in Okayama, has developed a form of articial meat derived from human waste matter. If meat eating is so cruel and vegetarian means for saving the animals and earth, will consuming sewage mud become a new trend sooner or later?

Coolest shit? :D
