Are you a subscriber to Virgin’s 50mbit cable service? Do you feel the 50mbit speed not fast enough for your online needs? Need a faster service with larger bandwidth?
According to news released by Broadband TV News, Portuguese cable network Zon Multimedia has announced their plans to deploy 1 Gigabit broadband service commercially – that’s 1GBPS/1000Mbit per second internet service.
The following news is another surprise from Portugal. Since all proper and study field tests for the 1Gbps network has already been completed and a residential product will soon be launched in September. It will soon begin with a two tier offering including an entry level of 200Mbit option. This is the next step after the launch of 50Mbit and 100Mbit Zon cable packages that will be implemented in January next year.
Despite the reknown soccer league from Portugal, seems there’s wide possibilities for Portugal to compete with other high-data access countries such as Sweden, Japan, Korea and France. But for the mean time Japan and Portugal seems to be planning ahead with 1Gbps broadband speed.
