The Air Mouse Elite can be used as a standard mouse on a desktop surface or you could use the mouse’s cursor to move in the air. There is a modified button layout with additional buttons below the scroll wheel in a circular pattern.
The range is 100 feet, you could use the air mouse anywhere within the range. This is definitely useful for business types giving presentations, but it is also very cool for living room computing. If you hook up a computer to your hdtv or led tv, navigating becomes very easy with something like this.
Gyration also has “MotionTools” software that will recognize gestures. That could be useful as long as you don’t mind looking like a kung-fu master or wizard while using the device. Gyration has been making in-air mice for a while. If you’re unfamiliar with the concept, just think about using a Nintendo Wii remote control as a mouse and you’ve got Gyration’s in-air mouse. Gyration predates that Wii remote by quite a while.
