Despite Sony’s strike as the 2nd e-reader provider in United States, in Japan itself, there has been another news about e-reader manufacturer called Adtec Corp that is soon going to release their eletronic book reader at the end of next month.
The Adtec’s e-book reader is built using the “eSlick” technology and is will be marketed by Foxit Software Co., in Japan. And that’s why Adtec e-book reader will be using Foxit brand in Japan. Hence, no info if this ebook will be available in multilingual version.
It has 6-inches display with 800×600 resolution. But, similar to Sony’s reader touch edition, this ebook reader is neither equipped with the Wi-Fi nor the 3G capabilities. But should be enough to handle your portable electronic reading needs.
And Adtec has provided the USB and SD memory card slot for data transferring, another source said this device will support the iDoc K.K.’s “KeyringPDF” DRM technology.
The next generation of ebook reader from Adtec is planned for release by next year in Japan. According to the news source, it will have color electronic paper and wireless communication features, while aiming to sell the device using Adtec’s own brand.
An agresive marketing target of 50,000 units in 2009 alone for Japan market, but no info for regional sales target.
