Hitachi also announced their 3DTV, a new trend of 3D display without the necessity wearing any 3D glasses to enjoy the three dimensional effects.

This is the same technology used by Sharp’s 3D touchscreen LCD we have mentioned yesterday. The parallex barrier technology is rumored to be the one going to be used by Nintendo for the new Nintendo 3DS portable gaming console.

And not surprising, since Hitachi has shown their 10-inch VGA screen prototype using 16 projectors during CEATEC exhibition held in October last year. The parallex barrier display is capable of delivering a visible three dimensional projection within certain viewing angle.

We’ve always said glasses would prove the barrier for most people considering buying a 3DTV, but it’s not yet known whether the parallax barrier technology can actually compete with what we’ve seen from Panasonic, who’s the only manufacturer with a 3D plasma out.
