At first, we thought LaCie would keep on releasing USB3.0 external hard drive, but seems LaCie still can’t really give up on its USB2.0 portable external hard drive market. The new LaCie Rugged Safe portable external hard d is using USB2.0 or FireWire 800 interface, designed to provide peace of mind and extra security using the 128-bit AES hardware encryption and to those paranoid users.
LaCie Rugged Safe portable external hard drive will also come with biometric fingerprint scanning located on the front side and a rubberized shock-proof enclosure. LaCie also has designed theRugged Safe portable external hard drives with a fire-resistant feature in case your abode catches fire.
Kind of weird, why didn’t LaCie make a Solid State Drive instead? Anyway, LaCie Rugged Safe portable external hard drives will be available in two storage capacities of 500GB and 1TB at the cost half those standard SSDs. For USB3.0 interface, you could check out the our post here.
Prices:
1TB = USD300.-
500GB = USD190.-
