Samsung’s first solar powered notebook NC215 was introduced back in July this year and has been released in Russia and Africa region. The new comer is the Samsung MC215 solar powered mini notebook that will hit South Korea market soon with 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N570 dual core processor, 1GB DDR3 memory and a 250GB hard drive offering 5400 RPM.
Other features on the Samsung MC215 solar powered notebook including 10.1-inch laptop, solar panel on the notebook’s cover/lid area, up to 1,000 times of recharging offering up to 14 hours of juice to run the notebook. A two hours of charging under direct sunlight will give it possiblity to run for about an hour.
Running OS will be Windows 7 Starter Edition, while the display offers up to 1024×600 pixel resolution. The pictures show that the display is visible even under outdoor direct sunlight, but no details what is the technology being adopted for the display yet.
Should be one neat gadget for those enjoy outdoor activities, whether camping, sun bathing, beach or pool parties. However, it will be great if Samsung get the MC215 with water-resistant feature too. No info on pricing of Samsung MC215 yet.
