Newly discovered ways of making affordable and efficient solar cell are using Nickel and Selenium materials. According to researchers at University of Toronto, nickel perform similar to gold for electrical contact in colloidal quantum dot solar cells, and it has the capability to reduce the cost of quantum dot solar cells by 40 to 80 percent.


A team of reseachers from California’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has a new discovery by using an increase amount of selenium concentration by 9 percent has increased the oxide efficiency to absorb more solar light on the same amount of solar cell surface.

Hopefully both discovery could benefit near future invention for better and affordable solar cells for retail users.
