One of the innovative ways of solar power generation is located at Niente Winery in Oakville, California. The idea comes from Far Niente Winery in Napa Valley, where they have limited ground space to build the solar array and has decided to build a floating solar array on a pond near its vineyard.

Despite the limited space issue, the floating solar array was designed to generate desirable electricity for the winery, without having to sacrifice the land for growing wine grapes. And the solar power was established to supply enough electricity for the whole winery.

The system features 1,302 fixed ground-mounted panels on about one acre of land adjacent to the 994 panels mounted on pontoons floating in a one-acre gray water retention pond. Together they produce about 400 kilowatts (AC).
