Latest strike by NVIDIA is the acquisition of Icera, a baseband chip maker that create communication processor that talks to the cell towers. Icera’s customers including the cellphone giant Nokia and ZTE. Icera’s processor also offers Qualcomm’s SoC baseband integration and baseband technology.
This move by NVIDIA is to ensure the competition strength of its Tegra 2 mobile processor against other processor manufacturers including AMD and Intel in the global processor market. You might have noticed that NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 processor has been incorporated into various Android base mobile phones including LG, Motorola and Samsung in last two years alone.
