Have you been searching for an SSD with larger storage capacity? OCZ has unveiled its latest Octane SATA 3.0 and SATA 2.0 SSD series that comes with 1TB storage space. Available in 2.5-inch size, OCZ Octane Series SSDs are designed using the Indilinx Everest controller technology that offers a rapid boot up feature with faster boot up times by 50 percent compare to previous generation of OCZ SSDs.
Octane SATA 3.0 model offers up to 560 Mbps read and 400 Mbps write with 45,000 random read IOPS using 4K blocks, meanwhile Octane SATA 2.0 model offers up to 275 Mbps read and 265 Mbps write with up to 30,000 IOPS.
Owing to OCZ’s South Korea subsidiary, Indilinx with its new SATA 3.0 and SATA 2.0 drives, the OCZ Octane SSDs will have a lower latency, enabling read and write access times of 0.06 ms and 0.09 ms respectively.
Tagging for more reliable storage at lower power consumption, faster boot up and access times, OCZ Octane is probably the new market leader in SSD technology. But after reading a report by Computer World, OCZ Octane new Solid State Drives will be priced between US$1.10 to $1.30 per gigabyte, it seems better to wait a little longer till the price start to lower down, don’t you agree?
