Ecospin Raptor is a three-wheeled electric personal vehicle (EPV) that useful for security purpose, police stations, theme park staffs, event management firms as well as airports. The Ecospin Raptor is claimed to tbe the first of its type that obtained the approval for road legal status in the UK.
Offering maximum speed up to 25mph (about 40 km/h), Ecospin Raptor EPV could carry up to three hot-swappable 48-volt Li-ion battery packs that allow for round the clock patrolling, practical for use both for public places as well as private properties up to 60 miles range (about 90 km).
There is a twist grip throttle for power and brake, similar to motorcycle’s hand controls. Additionally, this EPV has a 5.7-inch, 320 x 240 resolution transflective LCD for the center information display, viewable even under bright sunlight, allowing user to access for the menus as well as other functions via the physical, multi-purpose buttons.
David Loomes, one of the developers for Ecospin Raptor EPV, feels that the EPV was not a good fit for non-consumer vehicle, thereby he told the media that in case there is such market demand, the design will then evolve to meet the market’s needs, such as integration with various interface including for smartphones, GPS devices as well as onboard cameras.
There is a 10-liter, lockable glove box with watertight feature for storage that being upgrade for large storage, while the throttle will cease to function and effective locks out from any unauthorized riders.
On recent testing, the Ecospin Raptor could carry a 280 pound (127 kg) stone for a 1 in 3 gradient hill for about 100 meters (328 feet) with ease, effectively demonstrate the pulling power of the twin rear wheels. Until this news is released, no info about availability of commercial version yet.
