A 85 meters tall, about a 28-storey building height tree is claims to be the largest and highest floating Christmas tree ever created in human history! The tree was lit on December 4, 2010, and will keep switch on every night at 19:30pm till January 6, 2011.
The Christmas tree has lots of lights that will glow in fifteen sequential patterns, having a total amount 3.3 million miniature bulbs across 105 kilometers of tree branches. The Christmas tree also has 2100 strobes that simulate twinkling stars.
The massive tree decorates the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon in Rio de Janeiro and has been placed there since 1996. The power to light up the massive tree is generated from six biofuel generators that produced a total 2130 kVA of power. One thing for sure, the guy in charge should make sure all of those lights work, as if one bulb went out, meaning a mile of lights would also went off.
No info about how much it cost to provide 3.3 million miniature bulbs across 105 kilometers of trees’ branches.
