What will be our future camping gadgets? One of the likelihood seems to be the solar powered tent from Orange – another eco-friendly and green energy gadget?
As revealed by orange, the solar powered tent is utilising cutting edge eco-energy technology, the solar powered tent concept will allow campers to keep in touch, be in ‘light’, stay ‘warmer’ and could also recharge their essential camping gadgets.
Latest research shows that by weaving specially coated solar threads into conventional fabric, revolutionary new ways of capturing the sun’s energy could soon become a reality. These radical advances mean that rather than relying upon familiar fixed panels, designers were free to conceive how a tent of flexible solar fabrics might look.
The photovoltaic fabric technology could optimize its solar energy capture via its three directional glides which can be moved throughout the day.
The solar tent also utilizes cool “glo-cation technology”, so if you wander too far from camp, simply activate either the SMS or RFID technology of your cell phone and the tent’s glow will guide you safely back.
Wireless control hub
The central of the solar powered concept tent is a central wireless control hub which displays energy level generated and used as well as providing a wireless internet signal; all information is displayed on a flexible, touchscreen LCD display screen.
Integrated into the hub is also acting as a ‘wireless’ charging pouch useful to recharge all your mobile gadgets. Using ‘magnetic induction’ technology passes an electric current through a coil embedded in the charging pouch, this in turn generates a magnetic field which creates a charge and charge-up the battery.
Another amazing feature that is controlled by the central hub is an internal heating element embedded within the tent’s groundsheet; this under floor heating is activated automatically once the tent’s interior temperature falls below a set level.
Orange Solar Concept Tent has been designed to celebrate Orange’s 11th year at Glastonbury. This year, Orange Chill ‘n’ Charge tent will be at Glastonbury again, providing 600 mobile phone charging points, free internet access and live music. The Orange Chill ‘n’ Charge tent will be open from Friday to Sunday, 10am-10pm.
