A good news for Intel fans, the largest provider of chipsets in the world – Intel, is planning to implement the USB 3.0 chipset on its motherboard before 2011.
But if you are looking forward to use the USB 3.0 right away, you could purchase the USB 3.0 PCI card which likely available in most computer market.
So, how fast is usb 3.0? It has a bus speed of 5Gbps, which means 10x than the high-speed 2.0 USB. After encoding and other overhead, the bus can carry 400MBps of data.
The 5 GHz USB 3.0 spec got plenty of attention at the Intel Developer Forum last month with a dozen chip, system and software vendors showing products with throughput up to 250 Mbytes/second.
