Last weekend, Sony show-cased its new ‘Hana Mado’, a new type of solar cells for windows during Eco Products 2010 exhibition that was held in Tokyo, Japan.

The Hana Mado is a beautifully designed solar cell that has meaning ‘Flower Power’. The device’s smart design has dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) that capable to converts light into electrical energy.


No word about when the ‘Flower Power’ would be available yet, but this encouraging prototype of green gadget is predicted to become a hot trend in near future.

The company made news back in 2008 when it announced that that development of DSSC with 10 percent energy conversion efficiency had been achieved. No further info if the solar cell windows will also works under LED lights?
